每年8月份，汕头市外语外贸学校牛津中心都会有新的外籍教师到任。“牛津外教看汕头”系列记录了外教在汕头工作和生活的奇妙经历和感受，供广泛英语学习者阅读和分享。
本文作者Michael在过去的一年里教学认真，荣获2012-2013年度我校“优秀教师”的荣誉称号，今年继续留任在学校工作。以下是九月份学校开学后他写的第一篇短文，内容包括了学校新外教的到汕接待，和台风“天兔”对汕头造成的影响，从而联想到在危机时刻经常乐于助人的中国人物——雷锋。希望学生们勇于克服学习过程中的困难，为实现自己的梦想而不断努力和奋斗！
I begin my
Shantou Diary by welcoming all new students to the school! How wonderful to see
so many bright and cheerful faces, all coming to enjoy learning English and
follow their dreams! Our school becomes a little piece of heaven now, full of
joy and happiness, everyone learning and sharing together in harmony! I would
also like to give a special welcome to my new foreign colleagues, Daisy from
On Thursday
September 26 the school’s three foreign teachers, (David, Daisy and me!), were treated
to a marvelous dinner by the Principals Chen and Mr. Liao of the Oxford English
Centre. Mr. Liao is such a kind and warm-hearted man, and he made us all laugh
and feel warm with his charming conversation. We all went to a beautiful
restaurant and enjoyed delicious
Recently a
terrible storm caused so much damage to the trees and flowers in the city. How
sad! But let’s be glad that the awful winds were not so bad as the last time
such a fearful typhoon came here. Such a time of danger reminds us to follow
the example of Lei Feng, to care for each other, to help each other. I hope
that all classmates can be kind to each other and always help each other to learn.
Learning English can seem like climbing a mountain, so hard a journey, and the
top of the mountain so very far away! But I believe that if we are patient and
diligent and climb bravely step by step, we can all be successful and achieve
our dreams! Keep climbing and never give up!
